Initiatives to Promote Diversity and Inclusion (D&I)

Fostering a Corporate Culture Through Dialogue

In July 2024, Nippon Sanso Corporation issued its D&I Declaration to audiences both inside and outside the Company. We have also formulated a D&I Action Plan covering the period through FYE2030 and are working to promote D&I. Since FYE2026, we have held participatory events called D&I Session at our sites throughout Japan, giving each employee an opportunity to view D&I as a personal matter and to translate it into dialogue and action. At these events, we hold short seminars on our human resources systems as well as workshops on themes such as what each workplace can do to help employees balance work with childcare and nursing care, and they provide a forum for lively exchanges of views among participants. In addition, timed to coincide with occasions such as International Women’s Day, we promote a broader understanding of diversity through activities such as holding health-related lectures and introducing different cultures and working styles based on the experiences of employees stationed overseas. We will continue to foster a culture in which diverse talent can thrive.

Strengthening the Development of Women Leaders; Promoting Women’s Active Participation

To strengthen the development of women leaders, Nippon Sanso Corporation offers Career Design Training for women who are candidates for management positions. In this training, participants take the initiative in addressing their own careers, while their supervisors accompany and support them in realizing those careers. The training provides an opportunity to raise awareness of career development, as shown by some participants’ comments, such as “my way of thinking about my career has changed.” We also have the Sponsorship Program for women managers. Senior executives serve as sponsors and hold discussions with participants for about one year on topics such as the mindset required of a general manager or section manager and the role of a leader. Through such dialogues, we provide participants with an opportunity to acquire a broader perspective and to consider the nature of leadership and their future careers. Furthermore, through this, participants naturally form networks among themselves, creating opportunities for ongoing communication that transcends organizational and operational boundaries.

Initiatives to Address Unconscious Bias, Moving Beyond Unconscious Assumptions Toward Inclusive Workplaces

Nippon Sanso Corporation encourages employees to recognize unconscious bias, which can hinder the promotion of D&I, and is building workplaces where diverse talent can thrive. In FYE2026, in addition to level-specific training beginning with new employees, we held inclusive leadership workshops and lectures for managers. In addition, we published a collection of unconscious bias case studies compiled from examples familiar to employees within the Company, which has attracted considerable interest among employees. We will continue to provide awareness-raising activities that help employees recognize their own assumptions and translate that awareness into action.

Creating an Environment Where Employees Can Continue Working, Through the Open-Participation Networking Event Connected Café[

Nippon Sanso Corporation holds Connected Café lunchtime networking sessions so that employees with diverse circumstances, such as childcare and nursing care responsibilities, can continue working with peace of mind. In FYE2026, we held the sessions online so that employees could join easily during their lunch break, covering three themes: childcare leave for men, nursing care, and mid-career hires. Employees of a wide range of ages and positions take part and share examples of how they have used the Company’s programs as well as their own experiences. These sessions help ease employees’ concerns, spread good practices, and deepen mutual understanding among employees. We will continue these initiatives and, together with enhancing our consultation services, promote the creation of an environment where employees can continue working with peace of mind.
