Initiatives of the Employee Resource Group Women At Matheson (WAM!) Developing Leaders, Supporting Employee Development, Fostering Corporate Culture, and Promoting Understanding of Heart Disease Prevention
Supporting Employee Growth Through Leadership Development and Mentoring
At Nippon Sanso Matheson, the employee resource group Women At Nippon Sanso Matheson (WAM!) works with the learning and development team of the Human Resources Department to promote a range of initiatives that support employee growth and career development. This work included facilitating leadership training, which provided opportunities to learn skills that leaders require, such as communication, active listening, coaching, conflict management, and the ability to lead change.
In addition, in the mentorship program, our first such initiative, experienced mentors and mentees paired up over approximately six to eight weeks and held several dialogues on themes such as career development, goal setting, and leadership. The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, noting that they gained connections beyond their own departments and new perspectives. Feedback indicated the program also built their confidence in their careers. Through these initiatives, Nippon Sanso Matheson is creating workplaces where every employee can demonstrate their abilities and grow by learning from one another, while also developing future leaders and fostering an inclusive corporate culture.

Fostering Corporate Culture Circle of Learning and Growth Through WAM!
Through WAM!, Nippon Sanso Matheson carries out a variety of activities throughout the year aimed at fostering corporate culture. We hold in-house events every month centered on the four pillars of learning (leadership and mentoring), well-being (health and wellness), community (volunteering and interaction), and D&I. We use these events as opportunities for dialogue, and connections among employees are developing into new activities and learning.

Wear Red Day Deepens Understanding of Heart Disease Prevention by Wearing Red
Through WAM!, Nippon Sanso Matheson held Wear Red Day to deepen understanding of heart
disease prevention among women, timed to coincide with National Wear Red Day on February 6. Employees took part by wearing red, and the event provided an opportunity for them to learn about the risks of heart disease and how to prevent it while raising their awareness of health.
In the United States, heart disease is the leading cause of death among women. To promote understanding of such health issues, WAM! shared information on the symptoms of heart disease, its risk factors, and methods of prevention, giving every employee an opportunity to reconsider their own health.
This initiative was part of the well-being activities that WAM! promotes, and it is helping to raise employees’ health awareness and create workplaces where everyone can work in good physical and
mental health
