Contract Received for NEDO’s Research, Development and Demonstration of CCUS Technology / Large-Scale CCUS Demonstration Test at Tomakomai / Demonstration Test on CO 2 Transportation / R&D and Demonstration of CO 2 Ship Transportation

Nippon Ekitan Corporation received a contract, subcontracted from the Engineering Advancement Association of Japan, for work on the NEDO project CCUS Research, Development and Demonstration of CCUS Technology / Large-Scale CCUS Demonstration Test at Tomakomai / Demonstration Test on CO₂ Transportation / R&D and Demonstration of CO₂ Ship Transportation. In this project, one of the objectives is to clarify whether there is a risk of the liquefied CO₂ (formation of dry ice) caused by phase changes during processes such as cargo handling and transport, Nippon Ekitan is advancing tests and research to understand changes in the physical property behavior of CO₂ under varying conditions such as pressure and temperature and flow velocity, and to identify issues in handling low-temperature, low-pressure CO₂ and examine solutions. By making broad use of the results of this research toward the social implementation of carbon recycling, which effectively utilizes CO₂ as a resource, we will contribute to realizing a carbon-neutral society in 2050.
