Participation in H2AL Project

ippon Sanso in Europe (Italy) is a partner in the H2AL Project,* an initiative focused on decarbonizing the aluminum industry in Europe. With assistance from Horizon Europe, a program that supports research and innovation in the European Union, the project is developing and testing hydrogen combustion technology as an alternative to fossil fuels in melting processes. Nippon Sanso in Europe (Italy) contributes expertise in oxy-fuel combustion, gas storage, and safe hydrogen supply, while supporting the adaptation of advanced burner technologies for European applications. Through collaboration with companies, research institutions, and public institutions in Europe, the project accelerates the development of low-carbon industrial processes, contributing to a more sustainable aluminum value chain.

* A project funded by the European Union that develops, validates, and demonstrates industrial burners and related systems capable of operating on 100% hydrogen, in order to reduce emissions in hard-to-abate industries (HTAI), particularly in fields where direct electrification is not feasible (this project focuses primarily on aluminum scrap recycling).
